CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Applying 30 years of experience, every project is approached in a bespoke, hands-on way, providing practical knowledge from working in senior management positions for in-house development offices.

I can provide ad hoc support and advice, manage specific projects, or provide senior, part-time interim cover.

I work holistically across an entire range of activities - back office and front-facing - helping clients to become more joined-up and data-focussed. This approach enables organisations to:

  • create more realistic targets
  • devise better performance-driven metrics
  • understand the impact of all their activities across the whole of their development operation

Unusually for a consultant, I consider it vitally important to regularly update my 'in-house' experience with interim roles, which ensures I continue to truly understand what it’s like to work in a contemporary non-profit organisation, with budgetary and resource constraints, often within a complex cultural environment. Only by having this approach do I feel able to offer realistic and practical solutions.

Alongside establishing a comprehensive view of a client’s operational environment,  I invest time in fully understanding every element of their activities and the challenges they may be having, working closely with senior management and their wider team to help them develop their own solutions.

Clients are supported from start to finish, helping them gain the results they need in a pragmatic and relevant way.

My work is varied, but my main areas of focus have been:

  • helping organisations to create and build new and effective, multi-functional development programmes, from engagement and regular giving, through to legacies, donor stewardship, and major gifts.
  • supporting teams to reinvigorate existing programmes, or plan strategically and operationally for large campaigns/appeals
  • evaluating & forensically analysing operational data and performance to inform an organisation's next steps, and to make their programme for resilient and sustainable.
  • advising HNWIs on their philanthropic giving, as part of their overarching wealth strategy.
  • ‘helicoptering-in’ to help fill senior roles, to alleviate recruitment issues, or provide maternity cover.
